Same Wavelength

My Grandmother loved to bake. What I remember most though, is her lemon meringue pie. I can still smell its tantalizing aroma wafting through the house beckoning us all to the kitchen. Why do we remember such things? I believe it boils down to waves or vibrations. How we experience these waves is known as their frequency, which is essentially the number of waves per units of time. Though there is some debate about it, smell, which is not visible to our eyes, like sound, is considered by many to be a frequency.

Then there are a whole range of sounds we experience. Those considered audible, or detectable by the human ear, fall between 20 – 20,000 Hz (hertz). Beyond these there also exists a range of sounds that are inaudible, yet nonetheless still exist; think dog whistle. This unseen world of vibrational frequencies is equal to, if not more important in my estimation, to the more obvious ones. Though subtle in nature, they can have a profound effect… like grandma’s pie.

When a vibrational frequency is pleasing to us rather than dissonant, we often call it resonant. When something is resonant, it has a deep and full quality to it. Its expansive and feels amplified. There is a sense of matching or confirmation. This experience can range from people or places, to things. These are the encounters in which we feel at home, peaceful, and embraced.

We need not think too hard to identify such instances. Think of a place you have strolled into during your life where instantly you felt at ease, comfortable, and you spontaneously exhaled… ahhh! Now contrast that with the opposite experience where upon entering a different place you instantly felt uneasy, grave discomfort, and might have even become short of breath. That, dear reader, is vibration. An unseen world that surrounds us each day, acting as stealth guide on our journey.

When we find those people, places and things that resonate, we refer to the experience as being on the same wavelength. I like this visual because it can be understood so clearly, like two parallel lines vs. one parallel and the other squiggly. In the end we need to experience both in order to teach us the contrast. So, my call out this week to us all is that we strive to tune in more to the unseen but profound frequencies that exist in our lives and world. It is in this subtle place we can hear the deep messages our higher self is always whispering. Its time to listen.
