The Changing You

Ever met someone you knew years ago and you were stunned by how much they had changed? I am not just talking about physical changes, those do occur, I am speaking of their personality, interests, and passions. The shy kid from high school who seemed scared of her own shadow is now a famous motivational speaker. Or the star athlete, super aggressive guy, who only seemed to care about himself, you now learn is the director of a local hospice care facility. You get the idea; the changes are so dramatic its mind boggling. How and why does this happen?

When I learned of an astrological technique known as progressions, it was like the light going on in a dark room and bringing clarity to the question of our changing personas. Our stories unfold in a systematic manner throughout our life; though it might not always seem that way to us. Its akin to our DNA unfolding based on a predetermined schedule that is unique to our entry point into this earthly realm. Where we attach to the wheel of time, sets that clock in motion.

The way progressions work involves an examination of the first 90 days of your life. Each of the planets experience movement during those 90 days to which an astrologer applies a symbolic ratio of one day to a year in the case of the Sun (and approximately that for several other planets) and one degree per month for a person’s Moon. In doing this, an astrologer, through a person’s Sun, can determine when a person’s desires, identity, vitality, and core personality will experience a shift. These shifts can range from dramatic in nature, to subtle.

Further, through applying this same technique to the Moon, shifts in how a person processes emotion, their mood, lifestyle, diet etc. can be determined. This is done by tracking the sign your Moon is progressing through as well as the phase it is in. The Moon by progression spends approximately 2 ½ years in a sign and 3 ½ years in a phase. It runs through a complete cycle of the 12 zodiacal signs in approximately 30 years. This technique goes a long way in explaining our shifting emotional nature throughout life as well as where we feel nurtured or desire to give nurturing to.

I mention this remarkable astrological technique this week as means of communicating that you need to give yourself permission to accept the changes that occur on your own personal journey. They are part of the plan. We are all evolving. Sometimes that evolution can be challenging and sometimes it seems to flow with ease. Again, its supposed to be that way. Fate will push us in the direction our unique energetic imprint calls for, and our own free will ultimately mold what that looks like. As we get better at sensing and detecting that clarion call, the flow of this process becomes less bumpy and more Zenlike.

Do you know where your progressed Sun and Moon are?
